Rules for Breaks

Breaks and Lunches:

8 hour day- 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

9 hour day- 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

8 to 10 Hour day: Employees shall receive a 15 minute paid break at 9:00 a.m. and a 30 minute unpaid lunch break at 11:30 a.m.

10 hour day- 7:00 a.m.  to 5:30 p.m. 11 hour day- 7:00 a.m.  to 6:30 p.m.

10 to 12 Hour day: Employees shall receive a 15 minute paid break at 9:00 a.m. and a 30 minute unpaid lunch break at 11:30 a.m., and a 15 minute paid break at 2:30.

12 hour day- 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. 13 hour day- 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

12 to 14 Hour day: Employees shall receive a 15 minute paid break at 9:00 a.m. and a 30 minute unpaid lunch break at 11:30 a.m., and a 15 minute paid break at 2:30 and a 30 minute unpaid break at 5:30.

14 hour day- 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

15 hour day- 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

17 hour day- 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

14 to 17 Hour day:  Employees shall receive a 15 minute paid break at 9:00 a.m. and a 30 minute unpaid lunch break at 11:00 a.m., and a 15 minute paid break at 2:30 and a 30 minute unpaid break at 5:30 and a paid break at 8:00 p.m.

Breaks and lunches times may vary at the foreman’s discretion under no circumstance will paid breaks longer or more frequent than mandated.

Example:  In an 8 hour day the foreman may decide to not have a break at 9:00 a.m. and have a 45 minute lunch.

As outlined in the drug, alcohol, and tobacco policy, extra smoke breaks are not allowed- “no exceptions”.
